We were booked by a company to photograph a few properties around Norwich, via our sister site – www.norwichpropertyphotography.co.uk
We were asked short notice if we would be able to provide some corporate head shots for the companies website. Without immediate access to a studio and short time request we decided to make a pop up studio style in one of the properties we were photographing and do them there. We thought we would share with you the set up and show you some of the results.
So the set up consisted of 1x large OctoBox, 1x Small OctoBox, 2 Lights, as depicted below:
We recently purchased a Godox AD600 battery powered 600w studio light, to use in situations like this and at Weddings etc. This was the rear light with a large OctoBox on it where the client was going to stand in front. The front light was a 300w with a smaller OctoBox boomed up and over the top of the camera pointing at the subject at 45 degrees. We used a light meter to give an ample reading on the subject and then to ensure the rear light was a lot brighter in order to create the ‘high key’ look, we popped a trigger on top of the camera which controls both lights and we were ready. This took all of about 5 minutes to set up and this was the results we got:
We hope you enjoyed this quick tutorial on setting up simple lighting for head shots.
