Using Palette Gear in Capture One Pro
The ever so kind people over at Palette Gear sent us their ‘Expert Kit’ with a few additional controls. Having never used the kit I wanted to dive straight into a video of experiences and how it is now working with Capture One Pro.
We are now using Capture One Pro 12 and Palette have announced full integration with Capture One, so we wanted to see what it offered, especially as we have been used to using the Loupedeck with LightRoom.
Check out our initial video review:
How did we get on?
It was a little bit of an odd experience coming from Loupedeck where I had started to learn everything. But as with anything new muscle memory takes time to come into play. That said the customisation of Palette Gear is incredible, you can do and put the controls where you like. You are not tethered down to how it has been designed.
There are small features like lighting up of the control so you know its connected. The software is excellent and easily navigational.
I’m really not sure I get the ‘slider’, especially for photo editing, well at least not yet. As I describe in the video, you edit an image move to the next the slider is still in the position of the last image. It might not end up being an issue, time will tell.
Expense… compared to tools like Loupedeck its a tad expensive, is it worth the difference for level of customisation etc.
Lets revisit this one once we have had time to play more 🙂
